Ok, so everyone who knows me well knows I used to be the BIGGEST cereal addict, especially BRANFLAKES -they were my life, I couldn't go a morning without them, but then I had to cut them out and I went completely cold turkey on them.
I haven't eaten cereal since June 2015 as all brands I have come across have always still contained wheat, yes there are tonnes of wonderful gluten free options but they all still contain wheat.
Well I went into Booths in Garstang - BIG shout out to Booths as they have recently extended their allergy aisle and now have a wide range of amazing allergy-free options, including my Goody Good Stuff sweets I always take to the cinema with me.
I was simply looking to get some more bars and possibly some sweets when I saw the new cereals by Nature's Path - and although the Rice Crispies retake called 'Crispy Rice' and the Cheero's type hoop cereal are the only two at the moment that are wheat and gluten free this is enough to fill my heart with happiness. I bought the 'Crispy Rice' product, they are simply made up of: brown rice flour, raw cane sugar, sea salt, molasses, traces of peanuts, tree nuts and soy but this is simply PERFECT for me.
I came straight home and got to tasting them. They really do just taste like Rice Crisipes, which is so fab, I ate half with simply almond milk but then I added Cacao Powder, Sweet Freedom's Fruit Syrup and PB2 powered and a little more milk in a jug and poured it over - OMG! AMAZING, so good! I highly recommend, you get that coco-pops vibes but with a nutty taste. Amazing. I need to get a picture of this combination. I only got a picture after eating half the bowl, but the second half seemed to go down a lot faster than the first- I wonder why? GREEDY.
But a big thank you to Booths and Nature's Path! LIFE CEREAL SAVERS.
I have had a good start of the week finding new products - all in Booths.
Here is what I have come across: Nature's Path- Crispy Rice
BFree - Fajita wraps ( the pack comes with tomato salsa and spices all allergy-free). I did use these wraps for sandwiches and pizza bases rather than fajita's but I did try the sauce and the spices and they were good - the tomato salsa not my fave but I would still use it in my cooking. The wraps were great, a great product you can't tell the difference from normal wraps, they are soft not crispy and hard and aren't heavy - they don't leave you feeling sluggish despite me making 3 into pizzas.
I also found some Hummus Chips by Eat Real - they were delicious, I was having a BBQ with friends and everyone tried one they all said they were nice and Matthew was very taken with them, we ended up sharing a massive sharing bag between us, I enjoyed them at the time but the right side of my throat did begin to hurt around 15 minutes after finishing eating, I drank a lot of water and dealt with the pain, I thought I was ok but I did go on to feel extremely sick later with stomach ache on so I am not sure what may of caused this whether there was traces of wheat in them as they did say gluten free but don't advertise themselves as wheat free.
However they were super tasty and if you are gluten free I highly recommend them as they vegetarian, vegan and GMO free!! They also have lots of different flavours - hummus chips with lemon and chilli, tomato and basil and more however Booths only stock the sea salt flavour ( the Garstang branch)
I also want to recommend and thank Booths for stocking CANDY FLOSS flavoured grapes! They are raved about on YouTube in the plant-based diet/lifestyle videos. They are gorgeous fresh and really taste like candy floss and I also love them frozen - this is the latest thing, freezing your grapes. They are just like frozen balls of sweetness - so nice and so refreshing, great in banana nice cream!!
Apparently the cashier in Booths was telling me that their are other types of grapes too including a mango variety. I really hope Booth's decide to stock these or I can hunt them down that would be AMAZING! Would LOVE to try them.
So I will continue to hunt for great products and hopefully we will find some more amazing finds :)
Love and peace to all.
Feeling sluggish and rubbish when you have woken up? Get boosting up on bananas the more the better - they will help settle your stomach, boosting digestion, they are a mood enhancer, they will give you the energy you need and keep you full. Buy my book for banana receipe ideas.
Wake up every morning and ATLEAST have one glass of lemon water before doing anything else! Ideally try to drink a litre of water. The lemon wakes up your digestive system ready for the day and has great cleansing properties.
Check your dairy and meat intake - dairy can sit in your system for up to seven days unable to digest properly. Meaning other foods also get neglected and nurtients aren't absorbed properly and you feel extremely bloated. Go and smell your food bin, your stomach will be in that state. Rotting foods in your belly - hmm nice.
DO NOT FEAR CARBS - THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY! CARB UP!!
Bananas, Rice, Potatoes, Leafy Greens, Corn, Beans, Lentils etc PACK THEM IN GO MAD.
NEVER COUNT CALORIES - NEVER RESTRICT!! These restriction 'starvation' diets who tell you to only eat 500 calories a day then have a treat day - where you binge out and eat WAY too much, is simply messing up your metabolism and on your binge days yours body stores all the fat meaning you gain weight because it knows it is going to go back into starvation mode and needs to hold onto every little thing it can. HELLO WEIGHT GAIN.
Life is too short not to live it to the full, making yourself happy.
