Last week’s bloods back and after 3 weeks of being back on my med’s and at home I have finally got my liver ATL level back to 36. My white blood cell count also went back up to normal levels a 4.4 . Yes it’s still very low but Lyme suppresses the immune system and I am normally below normal. But no red flags! Probably the first set of results in months not to have any red flags!
I began feeling unwell last week and haven’t been pushing it with my food ( I haven’t been eating anything I react with ) which I think has helped my liver recover and my immune system strengthen because it hasn’t been fighting extra toxins.
As you all know I have been ill this week with a throat & chest infection. Again I haven’t been pushing it with the food as I didn’t and couldn’t bare to have heightened systems.
Hopefully my immune system will have kept above 4 and in the normal range but we will see when I get my bloods done again tomorrow.
I am still working very hard on my protein levels and keeping down the carbs.
In my nutrition course I am learning so much.
I have learn that the body needs a temperature of 37 to produce enzymes to break down the food we eat and absorb the nutrients. 37 degree C is still on the low side for these enzymes to be produced and have energy to break down the food efficiently.
If the enzymes aren’t present the food is discarded and isn’t broken down properly with the nutrients taken from it.
My nutritionist Ron from Breakspear said to me when I was reacting with milk that I may not have the enzymes to break down the lactose in milk as many people don’t and so have dairy or lactose intoerlances. At the time you accepted what he said but now learning more about it, it does seem locational.
Whenever I have dairy my body has to get rid of it when it hits my stomach it can’t digest it.. so I get an upset stomach or I am sick. It can’t have it in my body.
You just think I am intolerant but if I don’t have these enzymes and my body temperature is so low that I won’t have enough of the other enzymes being produce by my body like amylase the enzymes that break down carbs and protease enzymes that break down protein. My body isn’t absorbing and breaking down my food properly.
Especially protein being more complex to break down requiring more energy and enzymes to break them down that not only have I been feeding my infections but my other nutrients from food and proteins have not been efficiently absorbed by the body.
So I have ordered some my digestive enzymes from Holland and Barrett so then I can support the digestion of my foods and up my enzymes within my digestive tract to ensure all my nutrients are going to me.
I have always learnt how stevia helps fight Lyme. I have heard it a lot in the media and of course believed it because I swapped from refined sugar many moons ago to prevent feeding the Lyme. It goes beyond stevia being plant based and a pure source however.
Stevia unlike other sweeteners and sugars are made up of amino acids rather than glucose molecules.
This means they are fermented by the bacteria in the gut and means they are a probiotic to our bodies. Feeding the good bacteria rather than the bad. Which all starts to piece together the puzzle of why stevia is a good start at tackling Lyme a totally natural way.
Again this means we are adding good properties to our bodies without much trouble at all.
Being an amino acid structure like protein will also mean it will help repair and protect my body. Which is needed!
Despite making my sugar change a long time ago my body may not have been absorbing it properly with low protease enzymes in my gut due to my low body temperature. Without this enzyme or enough of it my food is just discards or left in the gut. None of the nutrients are absorbed or digested by the body! Which is an important point and why these enzymes are so important.
Like I said about lactose, without the enzymes the body goes into panic mode! And it’s has to get rid of this ‘foreign’ product they can’t break down.
Unfortunately I can’t do anything about my low temperature but luckily we buy enzymes supplements in health food shops and Holland Barrett. So I will be upp’ing mine.
I am hoping all my changes are really helping. Hopefully despite illness blips I will be able to hold on to my weight because my nutrients I put in will be stored and used by my body for me not for the bacteria to thrive and take over.
Knowledge is power - and my God do I go through some hell, tough lessons and mistakes to gain the knowledge I that in the end it will be my strongest weapon!
I am zapped now.. I have used all my energies on this rather scientific post.
I guess it’s time to refuel.
