Empowerment is a tool we all need a dose of in our lives. Where do we start? Here are a few pointers:
1. My strength is greater than my struggle! Look at how far you have come, the battles you have won, the broken pieces you have pieced together and what a strong person you have become. Celebrate your strength - you damn well deserve it.
2. I'm fearless.
You really are, otherwise you wouldn't be reading this now.
3. I'm getting stronger everyday.
Look back at how far you have come, that's all the proof you need for this one.
4. I'm in awe of my body and what it is capable of.
Now I know many of you will be thinking - 'I want to trade my body in for a new one.' Or be focusing on your hang up's and what you would change. It's so tough but this is a dangerous, unrealistic mindset to get caught up in. We have to accept and realise how great we are and how strong our bodies really are. It bounces back, you live on and you are HERE IN THE MOMENT. You have a lot to thank your body for. It really does try to work as your friend!
5. I can do this!
The best mindset to have and damn right you can do it!
6. I was not made to give up.
Ooo here is a biggie! You were given the gift of life and placed on this Earth for a reason. You have to be thankful for that gift and use it wisely. Giving up isn't an option.
7. I am who I want to be.
This is a very important point to me. Why? The world we live in, is a very copy cat society. All about comparison and matching one another. WHY? We are all unique, made up of different genetics and so on. This is a MASSIVE strength and advantage. You can't be anyone else and nobody can be you. Be the best version of yourself and champion your uniqueness.
8. Nobody can make you feel inferior!
Remember the people who try are jealous and fearful of you. Use this as a strength, they see you as a threat. YOU have the power, not them.
9.I've discovered I am fierce!
This pointer takes times as I know I did and still do don't have the confidence to 'big' myself up but your past shows the proof of real strength and determination. You have come so far.
10. I know my worth.
Oh boy, this pointer is a hard one for me. In many senses I still do , but for SO long, so many years I have felt invisible. Zero self-worth and have felt that I lack purpose. We forget how much we bring to life. Everyone adds their own touch of spice and flavour to life and that's why meeting new people from different cultures, backgrounds and so on is so enlightening. It helps us realise that we don't all have to follow the same path to be classed as worthy, as long as we are giving 110 per cent to anything we put our hand and heart into that we are worth more than gold. It's also helpful to think about family friends and how they see you - they would be lost without you!!
11. I inspire others!
This one is truly close to my heart. My determination to help and inspire others really does help inspire me too. Use your strengths and even weaknesses to improve your life and others.
12. I do not fear the fire - I am the fire.
I think this is a big point. We can't let fear rule our lives. For so many years I did, and it made me deeply unhappy. Don't get me wrong it can be extremely daunting facing the fear but the buzz and sense of achievement afterwards just proves to you have STRONG you really are and with that strength you feel empowered and inspired to do more.
13. I choose what I become.
There are influences all around but nobody can sway you or be blamed for the choices you make. You must accept blame when necessary but also celebrate all the good you have achieved. The possibilities are limitless and there is always time to grow, gain strength, blossom and turn the tides.
14. I've decided I am good enough.
The key to true happiness. It really is and you really are GOOD enough. You work hard to be the best person possible and give your heart to the world. Nothing more can be asked of you.
15. I am brave enough to climb any mountain.
You are! Look how far you have come so far. Anything is possible.
16. I wink at a challenge.
A challenge is a FAB opportunity to enhance yourself and your life - don't shy away from them.
17. I have the power to change my story.
You hold the pen, use it wisely.
18. It's not their job to like me .. It's mine.
You can't please everyone, so focus on pleasing yourself.
19. I use my failures as stepping stones.
This is a big one to remember! Mistakes are our biggest lessons. We have to accept them an use them in a productive manner. They help us gain knowledge and strength in so many ways.
20. I have the courage to say 'NO.'
I always used to be a yes person, it didn't make me happy in the slightest. People took advantage of me and I got hurt in the process. Saying NO, isn't being cruel, it's being respectful of your needs and people who matter will understand that.
I hope these 20 little pointers, help inspire you this weekend and empower you to see how BRILLIANT you are.
Enjoy a great weekend!
Feeling sluggish and rubbish when you have woken up? Get boosting up on bananas the more the better - they will help settle your stomach, boosting digestion, they are a mood enhancer, they will give you the energy you need and keep you full. Buy my book for banana receipe ideas.
Wake up every morning and ATLEAST have one glass of lemon water before doing anything else! Ideally try to drink a litre of water. The lemon wakes up your digestive system ready for the day and has great cleansing properties.
Check your dairy and meat intake - dairy can sit in your system for up to seven days unable to digest properly. Meaning other foods also get neglected and nurtients aren't absorbed properly and you feel extremely bloated. Go and smell your food bin, your stomach will be in that state. Rotting foods in your belly - hmm nice.
DO NOT FEAR CARBS - THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY! CARB UP!!
Bananas, Rice, Potatoes, Leafy Greens, Corn, Beans, Lentils etc PACK THEM IN GO MAD.
NEVER COUNT CALORIES - NEVER RESTRICT!! These restriction 'starvation' diets who tell you to only eat 500 calories a day then have a treat day - where you binge out and eat WAY too much, is simply messing up your metabolism and on your binge days yours body stores all the fat meaning you gain weight because it knows it is going to go back into starvation mode and needs to hold onto every little thing it can. HELLO WEIGHT GAIN.
Life is too short not to live it to the full, making yourself happy.
