People will make judgements and claim to know you. They really only have tasted a slice of the cake.
Once more, we go through the motions of trying to explain a brief outline of what we want to accomplish and who we are as people.
My Mama kindly thought up the name Sophantastic way back when I began my hobby of baking cakes & cupcakes. I defined my blog as a recipe hub and showcased my work on this platform. It gave me purpose and worth when I needed a dose of it the most. Mama needs the credit for what Sophantastic has become today. Not just because it has evolved and become something from nothing but because really it has been with me through some of the toughest years of my life and really has encouraged me to become the person I am today. The name or label didn’t just define my cupcakes and my work but it evolved into becoming me.
Of course, there have been many blips, many times I’ve neglected this platform and taken my branding for granted. Yet, there are times we look back and really look how far we have come.
I wanted to celebrate the drive and inspiration this work has given me and also share a few fun facts about myself that I may up until now kept disclosed.
There are many people in the world that want to dampen our shine, rain on our success and speak negatively about us. Those kind of people aren’t worthy of our time and effort. It’s sad people purposely go out of their way to be like this. I try my hardest to celebrate all and everyone’s successes. We all work hard and we all deserve credit, where credit is due. When going through rough times when it’s even harder to see the light it’s more important than ever to highlight the strengths and positives. They don’t just empower ourselves but others around us. This is one amazing gift and so rewarding. I love nothing more than people reading my work and despite fears, weaknesses and so on they face the fears, chase dreams and do things they didn’t feel inspired to do. We all as human beings should want to be the best person we can be. We can’t be that by putting people down or being negative.
Sophantastic, is a place of comfort, support and inspiration.
It may not make your mouth water anymore with thousands of food receipes but hopefully my blog does empower you to believe in yourselves. Helping you to achieve more but also feel less alone in your fights.
I am a perfect example that change can be positvie. Although I know, I am guilty of fearing change. Without it we can’t grow.
My cakes may have helped people fill their tummy’s but now I hope I fill people’s hearts and souls.
Success and purpose can be found everywhere. It’s not on one way road, with one destination. But an never ending, six lane road with turn offs. stops and round about’s.
It’s important we learn that it’s all measured out differently. What someone may think to be normal ‘getting out of bed.’ May be a massive victory to someone who has been tying to succeed at this task for days.
Finding purpose is also extremely important. Finding purpose and worth really do hold the keys to so much. They empower us more than anything.
Chronic illness and also battling with unknown symptoms can suck not just the life out of us but who we are, what we stand for and what we want to be.
Sophantastic, helped me keep faith in fate and hope that no matter what I could keep inspiring myself and achieving.
We all have something or know somone who empowers us and is the reason we are who we are today.
There are a number of people I would factor in to my equation. Of course, Mamager is one of them. My Sophantastic brand would be the other. It’s given me life, made me fight on darks days and worked me hard ( rightly so. )
It’s important to find your life’s purpose, meaning and inspiration. It really does bring ‘life’ back into life. No word of a lie.
Where can I start?
That’s the beauty of it.. anywhere.
You don’t need to ask for permission, wait for the ok, or wait for a certain time.
Find what gives you a buzz and do more of it. It doesn’t have to be something you can make a career out of or earn you lots of money. It’s about what will make you happy!! We forget we only get one shot at life. Yes, we may not be able to change a lot of things and events happen that cause our world’s to feel as if they are falling down. We don’t have time to waste being sad, upset and unsatified. Tomorrow, will never come. It’s now.
I am to this day still, get embarrassed and feel unprofessional when it comes to talking about my blog. I don’t earn money from running it and I am not a professional. It is however, me. The reward for me is helping people and not only healing my wounds but theirs too.
Some things you may not know about me;
1. Back in my swimming days I hoped to win six gold medals at London, go on to do the commmonweatlth’s. Maybe do Rio but then retire and go into media work before having a family.
2. I dreamt of being the most decorated swimmer that Great Britain had ever seen.
3. I regret all the days I wasted being ungrateful for being able to eat anything!!
4. I moved in to my own home aged 19.
5. I have an obsession with dream catchers and my first one was my 10th birthday gift from my parents. I used to suffer badly with nightmares and they hoped this tool would help me sleep better and feel calmer.
6. I’ve always been a bad sleeper - always, never have I been a deep sleeper.
7. The best pool game I loved to play on holiday would be the mermaid game. Spending hours swimming under the water pretending to be a mermaid.
8. At age 4 many wanted to be a princess, I wanted to be a mermaid.
9. My favourite place in the world is Washington DC.
10. One thing I would like to remembered for; she always had a heart of gold.
I am proof that our worlds at times do come crashing down but not all is lost.
Maybe fate has bigger and better things in store for us.
We keep hope.
Feeling sluggish and rubbish when you have woken up? Get boosting up on bananas the more the better - they will help settle your stomach, boosting digestion, they are a mood enhancer, they will give you the energy you need and keep you full. Buy my book for banana receipe ideas.
Wake up every morning and ATLEAST have one glass of lemon water before doing anything else! Ideally try to drink a litre of water. The lemon wakes up your digestive system ready for the day and has great cleansing properties.
Check your dairy and meat intake - dairy can sit in your system for up to seven days unable to digest properly. Meaning other foods also get neglected and nurtients aren't absorbed properly and you feel extremely bloated. Go and smell your food bin, your stomach will be in that state. Rotting foods in your belly - hmm nice.
DO NOT FEAR CARBS - THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY! CARB UP!!
Bananas, Rice, Potatoes, Leafy Greens, Corn, Beans, Lentils etc PACK THEM IN GO MAD.
NEVER COUNT CALORIES - NEVER RESTRICT!! These restriction 'starvation' diets who tell you to only eat 500 calories a day then have a treat day - where you binge out and eat WAY too much, is simply messing up your metabolism and on your binge days yours body stores all the fat meaning you gain weight because it knows it is going to go back into starvation mode and needs to hold onto every little thing it can. HELLO WEIGHT GAIN.
Life is too short not to live it to the full, making yourself happy.
