Meeting Ben Wallace My Local MP

May 17, 2019

This morning I had the pleasure of meeting with my local MP Ben Wallace to talk about Lyme Disease. I went armed with leaflets, tick tweezers and wallet cards for Ben to keep hold of but also we displayed the leaflets at the front door to his reception area which is actually the Great Eccleston tourist information centre.

Ben really does go above and beyond when it comes to helping his constituants. He has put a piece in the Wyre Focus magazine for this month as this is going to see if he can question Government on their attitudes towards the disease moving forward. I am so thankful for our meeting today and grateful for Ben's time. I know how busy he is. I think with his close army connections and being trained to body check for ticks every day he understands better than most the real threat this disease is causing on the global stage not just in the U.K.

We then went on to Garstang Tourist Info, to give them some leaflets, tick tweezer and wallet cards as GARSTANG is the hub of 'WYRE WALKS' which are walks held across Wyre throughout the month of May.

So, it has been another busy put productive day.

Thank you to Mama for her idea of hitting the Tourist Information centres with posters, ESPECIALLY as it is walking season here within our region.

After a lovely nine day, instead of just the two day stretch of Blackpool Tower glowing green, it turned blue last night. I am so, SO thankful to Blackpool council for being so supportive and amazing. It has been truly magical and will be a memory we will all who have been touched by the disease will cherish forever. Thank you.

There is another busy weekend ahead going into next week.

With the full moon haunting me, the last few days have been a real effort and a struggle as symptoms flare. So, for this evening and tomorrow I think some rest & Sophie time is what is needed. Time to just rest but also enjoy life too. It has been the craziest but AMAZING two weeks since arriving back in the country. I am so very grateful in every way. However, the whirlwind is taking its toll. Sunday will be the catch up day when it comes to podcast edits and personal recordings, as well as Poetry Sunday. SO, keep your eyes peeled for all of that. I am my own worst enemy when it comes to weekends. I keep working, emailing and so on that when it comes to Monday and everyone else is back in the office I end up being a little overwhelmed. We never learn!

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE SUPPORT. Especially on my podcast, Chronic But Iconic. Now the channel is on Apple Podcasts more and more people are enjoying listening to the podcast through this channel. This is amazing, and means so much to me. THANK YOU. It has been a venture that does take a lot of time, planning and each interview you give 200 per cent to, so it can be very exhausting. BUT it is all so worth it because I am so honoured to have amazing guests and talk to inspiring people everyday. I am so thankful and get such a buzz from my channel and that is all because of you. I am forever grateful and  hope you continue to enjoy. THANK YOU.

Enjoy your weekend, love always!

SOPHIE'S
COOKING TIPS

#1
Feeling sluggish and rubbish when you have woken up? Get boosting up on bananas the more the better - they will help settle your stomach, boosting digestion, they are a mood enhancer, they will give you the energy you need and keep you full. Buy my book for banana receipe ideas.

#2
Wake up every morning and ATLEAST have one glass of lemon water before doing anything else! Ideally try to drink a litre of water. The lemon wakes up your digestive system ready for the day and has great cleansing properties.

#3
Check your dairy and meat intake - dairy can sit in your system for up to seven days unable to digest properly. Meaning other foods also get neglected and nurtients aren't absorbed properly and you feel extremely bloated. Go and smell your food bin, your stomach will be in that state. Rotting foods in your belly - hmm nice.

#4
DO NOT FEAR CARBS - THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY! CARB UP!!
Bananas, Rice, Potatoes, Leafy Greens, Corn, Beans, Lentils etc PACK THEM IN GO MAD.

#5
NEVER COUNT CALORIES - NEVER RESTRICT!! These restriction 'starvation' diets who tell you to only eat 500 calories a day then have a treat day - where you binge out and eat WAY too much, is simply messing up your metabolism and on your binge days yours body stores all the fat meaning you gain weight because it knows it is going to go back into starvation mode and needs to hold onto every little thing it can. HELLO WEIGHT GAIN.

Life is too short not to live it to the full, making yourself happy.
