Poetry Sunday - Your Spark

June 23, 2019

The days are turning dark,

I feel as if I am losing my spark,

The pain throbs,

As my life it robs,

On and on the days roll by,

Never once will you see me cry,

Through and through,

I will hide from you,

Never wanting you to see the real pain,

The heart ache from all the strain,

No sleep for me,

I become someone I never wanted to be,

I fear the future and how it will be,

This unease I hope you don’t see in me,

I stand up and smile,

But it’s been a while,

My days I can’t plan,

I forget I am human,

Pushing on and on,

Wishing the pain will soon be gone,

The more in public that I flake,

The positive quotes I try to make,

So people don’t see the pain that comes with this fight,

Keeping their goals in clear sight,

We can’t predict what the future will hold,

My story still needs to be told,

For what may feel so bad,

We can’t allow ourselves to feel sad,

We much wake up and be kinder to ourselves today,

So we can begin to heal in some way,

The pain I don’t want you to see,

I just want to be the best version of me,

I fought long and hard,

That I can’t discard,

I should be proud,

But my inner critic is far too loud,

I doubt and I cry,

I self-loathe way too much to lie,

Chronic illness of any kind,

Your inner fighter often gets lost and is hard to find,

It is always there,

People can be cruel and don’t care,

Their cruel words often leave your in despair,

Which breaks the heart and is so hard to repair,

I will begin to rest,

To give treatment my best,

To feel more at peace with my fight,

So maybe I can sleep through the night.

COOKING TIPS

#1
Feeling sluggish and rubbish when you have woken up? Get boosting up on bananas the more the better - they will help settle your stomach, boosting digestion, they are a mood enhancer, they will give you the energy you need and keep you full. Buy my book for banana receipe ideas.

#2
Wake up every morning and ATLEAST have one glass of lemon water before doing anything else! Ideally try to drink a litre of water. The lemon wakes up your digestive system ready for the day and has great cleansing properties.

#3
Check your dairy and meat intake - dairy can sit in your system for up to seven days unable to digest properly. Meaning other foods also get neglected and nurtients aren't absorbed properly and you feel extremely bloated. Go and smell your food bin, your stomach will be in that state. Rotting foods in your belly - hmm nice.

#4
DO NOT FEAR CARBS - THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY! CARB UP!!
Bananas, Rice, Potatoes, Leafy Greens, Corn, Beans, Lentils etc PACK THEM IN GO MAD.

#5
NEVER COUNT CALORIES - NEVER RESTRICT!! These restriction 'starvation' diets who tell you to only eat 500 calories a day then have a treat day - where you binge out and eat WAY too much, is simply messing up your metabolism and on your binge days yours body stores all the fat meaning you gain weight because it knows it is going to go back into starvation mode and needs to hold onto every little thing it can. HELLO WEIGHT GAIN.

Life is too short not to live it to the full, making yourself happy.
