A YUMMY Day At Halo Tops Glittering Headquarters

Who loves nothing more than to be able to eat sweet treats at a glittering event? 

ME, ME, ME. 

 

 

I jumped at the chance not only to see what NEW products Halo Tops were launching but to have the delight of meeting Karen & Poppy who run Halo Tops U.K. 

 

If you didn't believe you could make your dreams a reality then Halo Top's story will blow your ideals out of the ball park. NOW a HUGE business & success across the world but only 7 years ago it was crazy to think that Halo Tops was founded after a $20 dollar ice cream maker was purchased on Amazon & experimented with. Now with AMAZING, MIND-BLOWING flavours in dairy-free and dairy forms the business just continues to grow & blossom as more & more people fall in love with their products ( how could you not?) Their story is truly inspiring to me because we all have times when we feel like our projects 7 ventures aren't taking off & are barely leaving the ground. It proves you don't need money, or even much experience. You just need drive, passion & creativity. As you read through some of the flavours you will think, 'how on Earth did they think up that combination?' But somehow it works. They have listened to the customers & tailored their flavours to the demand. Also noticing that important elements that other companies haven't yet. 

Examples:

Less sugar: we all want that guilt free treat that is still yummy but with diabetes and other chronic diseases on the rise we have to watch our sugar levels for our health. For me, the Lyme bacteria feed on sugar. So I have had to use plant sugars over refined and keep refined sugar to the bare minimum. 

High protein: protein is required for cell & tissue repair, which is great for a fit & healthy person but for a person battling auto-immune diseases PROTEIN is like our natural medicine as it repairs our bodies & keeps us fighting. There are protein powders & products on the market but they are often very refined & the more refined the more chemicals & toxins we are adding to our already overwhelmed body. 

Low carbohydrates again means low sugar and less flare up of symptoms due to feeding the nasties in our bodies. 

 

Dairy-free flavours: surprisingly a lot of people are dairy intolerant. Many of us don't have the lactose enzyme & so can't digest dairy. Other people just have really nasty reactions to dairy due to it being an inflammatory to the body. People with chronic disease may feel a flare up in muscle & joint pains after consuming dairy. Just watch out for that!

The flavours are taken on FAVOURITES & are adapted to ice cream, so Halo Tops knew they would be a hit & they were!

COOKING TIPS

Feeling sluggish and rubbish when you have woken up? Get boosting up on bananas the more the better - they will help settle your stomach, boosting digestion, they are a mood enhancer, they will give you the energy you need and keep you full. Buy my book for banana receipe ideas.

Wake up every morning and ATLEAST have one glass of lemon water before doing anything else! Ideally try to drink a litre of water. The lemon wakes up your digestive system ready for the day and has great cleansing properties.

Check your dairy and meat intake - dairy can sit in your system for up to seven days unable to digest properly. Meaning other foods also get neglected and nurtients aren't absorbed properly and you feel extremely bloated. Go and smell your food bin, your stomach will be in that state. Rotting foods in your belly - hmm nice.

DO NOT FEAR CARBS - THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY! CARB UP!!
Bananas, Rice, Potatoes, Leafy Greens, Corn, Beans, Lentils etc PACK THEM IN GO MAD.

NEVER COUNT CALORIES - NEVER RESTRICT!! These restriction 'starvation' diets who tell you to only eat 500 calories a day then have a treat day - where you binge out and eat WAY too much, is simply messing up your metabolism and on your binge days yours body stores all the fat meaning you gain weight because it knows it is going to go back into starvation mode and needs to hold onto every little thing it can. HELLO WEIGHT GAIN. 

Life is too short not to live it to the full, making yourself happy.
